Welcome to Epithet, the blog of the Committee on Creative Writing and the Program in Poetry and Poetics at the University of Chicago. Epithet is an online resource by and for creative writers: We’ll be reviewing and publishing new material every week, all written and edited by UChicago students. We’re also now officially accepting submissions in all genres and forms, including (but not limited to):
– Poems
– Short stories
– Creative nonfiction
– Essays
– Book reviews
– Event reviews
– Event listings for creative writing RSOs
– Writing prompts (for all genres)
– Information on creative writing events happening around Chicago.
Our hope is that Epithet will become a forum for UChicago students to share their work, read their peers’ writing, and distribute information about events and opportunities in creative writing on campus and around the city. Writers who send in submissions will also have the opportunity to work with our editors and develop their pieces for online publication.
Epithet is an important part of the Creative Writing program’s renewed effort to foster a vibrant and close-knit community of student writers, and we’re counting on the support, interest, and writing submissions of all of you to help build that community. Thanks for reading, and welcome to Epithet.
